Baby Elmo, Baby Big Bird, and Baby Cookie Monster

Maricel's daughters loves Elmo, but who kids doesn't? Maricel asked once more to have me make a cake for her daughter Brianna's first birthday. This time the Elmo cake is not Abigail, or who knows maybe both!

Happy Birthday, Brianna! I am happy that not only this cake put a smile on a child's face, but to the adult's as well.

Good to hear that your Uncle Rigel made to your birthday party, despite the snow storms we had in the East Coast that caused air traffic delays at the Newark International Airport. Glad that he had a safe trip.

METS fan Birthday Cake made by a NY YANKEE fan!

It's been a while since we were in touch with Jean. One day, we received an e-mail from her requesting to make a cake for her friend, Serena, who is celebrating her 30th birthday. Serena is big Mets fan, while I am a NY Yankee fan. Does anyone see the challenge or difficulty here? A Yankee fan making a Mets cake...just kidding! Well, Jean wanted to include the Met's mascot, Mr. Mets, as the cake topper. To make the cake interesting and to spice up the party with friendly NY team rivalry, I decided to add a Yankee beer bottle and a Yankee flag that Mr. Mets will be carrying. Boy! can't wait to see Serena's reaction!

This was a very interesting cake for me to make since I don't know much about Mets team. So, I decided to incorporate the arch windows of the citiFIELD stadium, but since the cake was not high / tall enough, I decided to make just one floor of the stadium. I notice one thing that I forgot to attach... the citiFIELD logo.

I wish I have that picture of Serena's face when she saw Mr. Mets with the Yankee stuff on it. It would have been PRICELESS!!! Thank you, Jean for the picture below. Serena had two cakes for her birthday...lucky lady!

Happy Birthday, Serena!

Happy Babyshower, Kamila and Faiz!

My friend and colleague, Khatira, saw my first cake - The Yankee Jersey cake. Since then, she told me, "I will ask you to make one for me one of these days."

Then, the time comes. She made a very last minute request for me to make a cake for sister-in-law. I had a baby shower cake for Pam and a Mets cake for Jean. Not only that I had two cakes that week, I also had to work crazy hours that same week. At work, I was covering two 3rd shifts in a row (10PM to 9AM), leaving at 9PM, and coming up to work 3AM. It was definitely odd hours coming to work due to a media simulation study. It was a very long day and week for me that screwed up my sleeping regime. The last night I had to work 3rd shift, I had to finish Khatira's cake. I was glad that I had enough sleep and rest before starting her cake. This is Khatira's cake.

Happy Baby Shower, Kamila and Faiz!

Happy Baby Shower from Pam!

My sister, Andrea, was proud of my work. She was saving pictures of my work in her cell phone and started showing it off to her friends. Her friend's mom saw pictures of the cakes I made. One day, she asked me to make a cake for her relative.

This was the 2nd cake design that I made twice. I made the same cake design for Jenny on her surprise baby shower, but in pink.

Happy Baby Shower from Pam!

My Sister’s First Fondant Cake

My sister and I have a lot in common, such as crafting, baking, cooking, and more. My sister decided that she would like to bake and decorate a cake to test her skills. She is talented as proven in this picture her first cake covered with fondant. I witnessed her from baking, making her own fondant, to cake decorating. This was a very good looking cake for a first timer. There were no wrinkles.

My sister is now into cake baking and decorating. I will be there to support you my little sister all the way! Am proud of you!!!

Happy Holidays from Phelps Construction

A colleague from Engineering Department saw the picture of the JDRF cake that I donated during the fund raising event. She asked me if I can make the same cake design (like the JDRF cake), but with the theme color of the Syracuse Football team. I am pleased to make a cake for her husband’s construction company (Phelps’s Construction Company) holiday party.

Happy Holiday, Patty and Phelps’s Construction Company!

Happy Holidays from Hotkist Creations!

My husband and I were in the holiday spirit, so we decided to give holiday cookies to our co-workers. We baked chocolate chip, ginger, and sugar cookies. The ginger and sugar cookies were individually decorated like in the picture. We segregated the cookies containers. He prefers the traditional holiday cookie tins, while I prefer a different packaging.

We received good reviews from our cookies. Everyone liked our cookies. As a matter of fact, I received an unexpected warm hug from one of my co-workers who I gave cookie box to.

We wish everyone a happy holiday!

Happy Birthday, Karlo!

I don’t know what Karlo would like for his birthday cake. He didn't provided me with much information. Funny, but it's not the first that someone asked me to make a cake for themselves.

All I know he is a Mets fan. Mets’s team color is blue and orange. But, since his cake is only for at least four people, I decided to make him something simple, yet elegant. The cake incorporates the color of his team.

Happy Birthday, Karlo!

Snowboarding Princess

My not-so-baby little sister, Andrea, was having her slumber sleep-over 12th birthday party with her girl friends. As usual, she asked me to surprise her with a birthday cake. But the problem here is she told me this on Wednesday and she needed the cake on Saturday. This was not easy. I have to construct a sturdy structure. The parts for the cake structure are not always readily available in Home Depot. I went out of my way to get the parts for her cake, so that she will be pleased.

I know what Andrea loves. She loves to ride. So, I decided to make her a cake muppetizing her as the cake topper holding her snowboard. The accent labels were the ski resorts/mountains she had snowboarded.

Since this was a rushed cake, I didn’t had the opportunity to take my time to muppetize Andrea. The modeling chocolate was not as smooth as I wanted it to be. I needed more time. What matters most is my little sister was happy and she received the attention from her girl friends.

Happy Birthday, Andrea! I love you!

Happy Birthday, Nirmal!

My really good friend and co-worker, Medha asked me to make a very simple cake for her youngest son, Nirmal, means “pure”. Nirmal likes to play, foorball, baseball, cricket and squash. Since Medha wanted the cake to be simple, voila! This is Nirmal’s cake…

At first, I wanted to make Nirmal a Star War cake design, but Medha insisted that a small and simple cake is enough. Coincidentally, it worked for me since I had two Thanksgiving cakes and two more birthday cakes to make after his cake. His cake was for Tuesday. The two thanksgiving cakes and two birthday cakes were all due on Thursday night, The Thanksgiving Night. It was a very hectic Thanksgiving week for me that I had to take day off to make five cakes! Overall, I made it through the week. Once more, Happy Birthday, Nirmal!

Roasted Chicken and Turkey, Anyone?

My sweet aunt, Rowena, saw the Roasted Turkey cake picture. She wanted to have the same cake for her Thanksgiving Party. Not only had she asked to make a cake, she wanted two Turkey cake. This was a challenge. It was a challenge because I have to make 2 of the same cake, plus two cakes for my cousin, Honey.

Overall, I am happy to hear that the children in her party were amazed at the cake. They can’t believe that those cakes were really cake. Happy Thanksgiving!

Obsessed Rubber Duckie Princess

According to my beautiful cousin, Lady, her gorgeous sister, nicknamed Honey, is turning 21 years old, the legal age to drink. Wuhu! PARTY! Lady told me that Honey is obsessed with rubber duckies that Honey has a collection of rubber duckies in her bedroom and in her work space. So, she asked if I could make a cake for her. I made her a duckie cake, plus another duckie cake on the side as my gift for her.

My naughty aunt Jean, almost blew the cover. She told honey that there is “DUCK” on the side. My gush, it was painful to ignore my cousin when she asked what Aunt Jean meant about the “DUCK ON THE SIDE.” This cake was supposed to be a surprise cake for her. The cake was hidden on the side table. Good thing that Honey did not notice the duck sitting almost in front of her. When the dessert time came, we marched with the cake on our hands. Her response was “OMG!!!” I lost count on how many times she said “OMG!” She was so happy that it brought tears to my aunt Luneta to see how ecstatic her daughter was. Happy Birthday, Gorgeous ‘cuz Honey! Your sister planned all this.

Technical Service's Thanksgiving Luncheon

Our department was having a potluck Thanksgiving luncheon. Everyone provided their share of food from their culture/ethnicity. Meanwhile, my department had known me for making custom cake. I decided to make a cake that is appropriate for the occasion. I made a “roasted turkey” cake. What made it flattering was, one colleague thought that I placed the roasted turkey on the wrong side of the table. He told me that the roasted turkey does not belong to the dessert table that it should belong to the main course table along with the hot stuff dishes.

Some people in my department have heard about my cake creations, but too few have actually seen the work. I am happy for all the compliments that they have given me. Their next question was, “When will we see you in TV?” My response to them, “ah, no, not really, you won’t see me in TV as this cake decorating stuff is just my hobby”

Louis Vuitton Neverfull

A colleague, Chad, asked me to make a cake for his sister-in-law’s surprise birthday party. Like any other women, Ambika loves designer purses. She has collections of designer purses. So, the cake was designed to look Louis Vuitton Neverfull purse. A slight modification was added when the original picture was taken.

I made an edible Chihuahua from modeling chocolate at the very last minute. I didn’t have the chance to take a picture of the cake with the Chihuahua on top.

Chad provided me this picture with the edible Chihuahua on top of the purse cake. The cake had wrinkles by the time the cake reached its final destination. The cake was sitting in his trunk during transit. With the potholes and bumps, plus the moisture from the refrigerator, the fondant on the cake starts to wrinkles. Overall, Ambika was very happy with her cake. They like the moistness of the cake, the sweetness of the American buttercream, and the look of the cake. Glad to hear that! Happy Birthday, Ambika!
